5 of the Coziest Books to Read This Fall
As the temperature starts to cool and the sun starts to set, it is the perfect time of year to crack open a new book. I don’t know about you, but for me, I’m in one of two reading moods in the fall: give me all the spooky books and scare me or give me the cozy books and help me escape into a beautiful new world.
What is a cozy book you may ask?
- May take place during the autumn
- Has vivid atmosphere with lots of descriptions of the setting, food, weather, etc.
- May contain a dash of witchy magic or a slice of a new fantasy world
- Evokes the senses like smell, touch, etc.
So if you’re ready to curl up by the fireplace with a hot coffee, a fluffy blanket, and a good book, here are my top 5 coziest books to read this fall.
Legends and Lattes by Travis Baldree
Describing itself as a low-stakes fantasy book, you’re following a fantasy creature and her companion as they start a coffee shop nestled in the middle of a fantastical world. This coyt fantasy book is riddled with descriptions of delicious cinnamon rolls, lattes, and more. If you’re going to pick this one up, just make sure you have a pastry nearby because you will get hungry.
The Very Secret Society of Irregular Witches by Sangu Mandanna
I mentioned this one in my list of top 10 books to get you back into reading because not only is it one of the coziest books, but it is also one of my favorite books I’ve ever read. This follows a witch in hiding who gets hired to educate three young witch orphans. It is full of the most adorable characters, fun witchy magic, and a precious romance that will leave you wishing it never ended.
The House in the Cerulean Sea by T.J. Klune
If you want the cutest fantasy kids of all time, look no further than this book. You get to follow a social worker who gets hired to investigate a house full of magic outcast kids. This story contains some of my favorite characters ever. From a little green fantasy creature who just wants to be a bellhop to “Lucy” who is just midunderstood, you’ll fall in love with these kids just like the main character does.
And Then There Were None by Agatha Christie
I don’t need to tell you who Agatha Christie is. The queen of mystery, there’s nothing quite like a classic who dunnit in the fall time. It brings me back to being a kid and watching Scooby Doo, trying to figure out who the culprit was. If you like to keep guessing, trying to be one step ahead of our characters and figuring out who is the ultimate culprit, you’ll absolutely adore this one. It’s my favorite Christie I’ve read so far.
The Keeper of Lost Things by Ruth Hogan
I totally adored this book. It is about a man who collects lost things with the ultimate goal of returning them to their owner. You go along on so many fun and heartwarming adventures. If you want to smile the whole read through, look no further than this one.
I hope you’ve found something that you can delight in this fall! I’d love to hear from you, so tell me what your favorite book to read in the fall time is!
Happy reading!
