5 Must-Read Spooky Books For This Halloween Season

It’s October! Which means it’s time for my round-up of the spooky books for Halloween that you can cozy up with. If you are not a fan of horror, don’t worry. Check out the 5 coziest books you can curl up with instead here.

I cannot, and I mean cannot, watch horror movies. I’m a total scaredy cat. But for some reason, reading horror books? Love it! So if you’re like me, here are some of my absolute favorite scary books I’ve ever read!

Imaginary Friend by Stephen Chbosky

A little boy disappears in the woods for 6 days. After those 6 days, the town finds him safe, but something is… different. He has an imaginary friend. He’s warning of strange things coming. And he has to build a treehouse in the woods by Christmas, or his town will never be the same again. Buckle up for a WILD ride with this one! My absolute favorite! And this mother and son duo are an absolute force!

How to Sell a Haunted House by Grady Hendrix

After their parents pass away, a brother and sister team up to try and sell their own childhood home. Except for the fact that it’s haunted. By puppets. This one is ZANY. It doesn’t take itself too seriously and I had the best time with it. If you a love a good complicated sibling relationship, haunted toys, and a little bit of the supernatural, you’ll love this one.

The Invited by Jennifer McMahon

A husband and wife move to a new town for a fresh start and begin building their own dream home. Except the lot they purchased is haunted. And as they build up their house with old artifacts, they keep making their home more and more haunted. But it may be for good reason, because it may be the only way to solve an almost century old mystery. I loved this one!

The Sun Down Motel by Simone St. James

Two parallel timelines. Two mysterious disappearances. Wait and see how these two timelines collide and how the mystery in the present is the key to solving the mystery of the past. Simone St. James is the queen of mysteries revolving around two timelines. You’ll be hooked from the first page.

Home Before Dark by Riley Sager

A woman revisits a home she lived in as a child that made her famous. It was the house that her parents wrote a nonfiction ghost story about. And although she grew up skeptical that her parents’ accounts of the home is nothing but fiction, she begins to witness strange things that make her believe maybe they were telling the truth after all.

I hope you find something that you end up loving from this list! Each one of these were books I picked up and could not put down!

What is your favorite spooky book you’ve ever read?

Happy reading!
