5 Cozy Books to Get Into Festive Holiday Spirit
I can’t wait to share with you the 5 best holiday books books that I think are best to read during the Christmas season to really get you into the spirit.
I don’t know about you, but as the weather gets cold, I love curling up with a book this time of year. Especially a fun holiday read or a cozy and atmospheric fantasy read. Hopefully no matter what kind of reader you are, you’ll find something to try this holiday season!
By the way, if you’re not a big reader but want to get back into it, check out the top 10 books I recommend to fall in love with reading again.
Let’s get into the list!
A Man Called Ove by Fredrick Backman
This is a feel good read about a grumpy old man whose adventures with his neighbors and local community begins to thaw his heart and change him forever. It reminds me of the Disney-Pixar movie “Up”, but for grown-ups this time. 🙂 It was even made into a movie starring Tom Hanks! So if you love a good story about a found family and need that gentle reminder of life being made better by those around you, this is a great one to read. The message really hits home around the holidays, too.
Murder on the Orient Express by Agatha Christie
If you’ve by chance never read this book or seen the movie or been spoiled by the twist, YOU MUST READ THIS! Whenever I think of cozy books, I always think of Agatha Christie and her classic whodunnits. And this is the one that’s extra fun for the holidays because of it’s snowy atmosphere. You’ll be kept guessing the whole story and I’ll be impressed if you’re able to predict the final reveal! Such a fun ride!
A Christmas Carol by Charles Dickens
I finally read this last year for the first time and have no regrets. You’re almost surely intimately familiar with the story, but reading the book gives you all the cozy holiday feelings. It gives us that extra reminder of what really matters in life and to live with generous hearts. And Charles Dickens beautiful writing is such a treat. So do yourself a favor and make this the year you finally read the book all the incredible adaptations were based on!
In a Holidaze by Christina Lauren
If you love a good rom-com, look no further than this one! I was so pleasantly surprised after reading this a couple years ago how much I loved it! It’s a rom-com version of Groundhog Day all centered around the holidays and it is so much fun! I wasn’t able to put it down.
Spinning Silver by Naomi Novak
As for my fantasy pick, it’s got to go to Spinning Silver. This one feels like such a classic fairytale with gorgeous writing, beautiful settings, and incredibly compelling characters. It’s a twist on the old Rumpelstiltskin tale. If you are looking to escape this holiday season into an incredibly lush fantasy world, this is the one I think you’ll love!
So there you have it! There’s my 5 top picks this year for best holiday books. What is your favorite holiday read? I’d love to know! I’m always on the hunt for more of these.
Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays!
